Six Biochemistry graduates of the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of the Philippines Manila (UPM) were among the top ten passers with the highest scores in the recent Chemist Licensure Examination last 15 - 16 September 2015. Abdul-Rashid Batara Sampaco III got the highest score of 92.25. Gabriel Luis Limpo Neri took the second place with a score of 91.25. Aaron John Tan Balana and Edward Gabrielle Victoriano Hilvano shared the number 3 spot with a score of 90.25. John Louis Villanueva is at number 4 with a score of 89.75 while Marvin Vergara Pelovello landed on number 9 with a score of 87.75.
Dr. Junie B. Billones, professor of Chemistry, UP Scientist 1, and project leader of the TB Drug Discovery research program talks about how they are using computer technology (via computer simulation) in looking for compounds that could be used in the treatment of multi-drug resistant Tuberculosis. The talk was delivered last 25 March 2015 during the TEDx Event held British School Manila.
