The University of the Philippines Manila (UPM) and the Society of Medical Physicists in the Republic of the Philippines (SMPRP) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last April 25, 2024.
The MOU signifies a partnership between the two institutions with a unified aim of developing academic and scientific cooperation, as well as enhancing research, and producing more Medical Physicists in the country.This is through the initiative of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (DPSM) Chair Dr. Marie Josephine M. De Luna.
Present during the ceremony were UPM Chancellor Dr. Michael L. Tee, CAS Dean Dr. Ma. Constancia O. Carrillo, CAS Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Julius Andrew P. Nunez, DPSM Chair De Luna, and the SMPRP President Melanie D. Marquez.
The signing was facilitated by the Office of International and Local Linkages (OILL) headed by Dr. Vivien Fe F. Fadrilan-Camacho. Also present were UPM Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance Johanna Patricia Adevoso-Canal, SMPRP Vice President Ramon Carlo Cruzpero, SMPRP Public Relations Officer Nikkitita Magdaong, SMPRP Trustee Jonathan Corpuz, Physics and Geology Unit Head Ramon Jose Bagunu, LRC Director Migel Antonio Catalig, UP-PGH Section of Medical Physics Head, Mr. Elrick Inocencio, Dr. Roy Tumlos, and Ms. Beatriz Allyne Carandang.
