Dr. Julius Andrew P. Nu\u00f1ez received a visiting professorship grant from Mahidol University (MU), Bangkok, Thailand. He was hosted by the Department of Biochemistry of the Faculty of Science of the said university from May 17 to May 30, 2026. The grant covered round-trip airfare, accommodation, local transportation, and food. The visiting professorship was funded by the Global Partnerships Division of the International Affairs Office of MU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his stay in MU, Dr. Nu\u00f1ez performed several experiments with electrospun nanofibers. This is part of his ongoing CHED-funded research on drug-loaded nanofibers for diabetes therapy applications. The fibers were tested for cytotoxicity evaluation. This was done at the Bionano Lab of Dr. Kanlaya Katewongsa, a collaborator of the project. Other experiments involved drug-loading assays and microscopy. On May 20, 2026, as part of his visiting professorship, Dr. Nu\u00f1ez gave a lecture on X-ray Diffraction: A Beginner\u2019s Guide for Chemists and Biologists. It was attended by around 25 graduate students and professors of the Department of Biochemistry. The lecture gave insights to students and professors on the concept and application of X-ray diffraction in biological research. Finally, on May 29, 2026, Dr. Nu\u00f1ez participated in the Graduate Research Day where graduate students presented their research work and progress reports. Dr. Nu\u00f1ez participated in the Question-and-Answer part of the seminar\/lecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
