{"id":2869,"date":"2026-07-08T01:31:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T17:31:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dpsm.cas.upm.edu.ph\/?p=2869"},"modified":"2026-07-08T01:31:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T17:31:16","slug":"bs-biochemistry-program-formalizes-linkage-with-institut-teknologi-bandung-indonesia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dpsm.cas.upm.edu.ph\/index.php\/2026\/07\/08\/bs-biochemistry-program-formalizes-linkage-with-institut-teknologi-bandung-indonesia\/","title":{"rendered":"BS Biochemistry Program Formalizes Linkage with Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The BS Biochemistry program of the University of the Philippines Manila formalized its international linkage with Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) through the Overseas Internship Program agreement signed last April 8, 2026 by ITB\u2019s Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Dean Dr. Aep Patah and last May 19, 2026 by UP Manila Chancellor Dr. Michael Tee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Biochemistry and Biomolecular Engineering Division, Department of Chemistry of ITB serves as the host of three BS Biochemistry students during their 6-week overseas internship. Their internship supervisors are Dr. Zeily Nurachman, Dr. Rindia Maharani Putri and Dr. Alfredo Kono. The three students are Louis Lapura, Leo Shane Rubino, and Abdul-azis Hadji Haron. Their internship research project at ITB involves the exploration of the potential of the diatom, <em>Cyclotella striata<\/em>, through biosilica isolation and genomic DNA extraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The students were accompanied by Dr. Julius Andrew Nu\u00f1ez, the external linkages coordinator of the BS Biochemistry program, last June 8, 2026 during the ceremonial welcoming meeting with the ITB administrators.
