Dr. Noel Quiming of the ChemBiochem Unit received an award from the University of the Philippines Manila Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPM TTBDO) last October 24, 2025 during an awarding ceremony entitled UPM TTBDO at 10 IP Xcellence held at the UP Manila Theater at the College of Arts and Sciences.
The award recognizes Dr. Quiming’s patent on his team’s invention with a title, “ Naturally-derived compositions from Dillenia philippinensis Rolfe (Katmon) for antibiofilm applications and the process of making thereof”. The patent was granted on April 3, 2024 with a term until September 7, 2040. Other members of the team are Jhulez Anthony Dayrit and Judilynn Solidum.
