LABMAT and GAEA Lab Train High School Teachers on SEM-EDX

The Laboratory of Materials (LABMAT) and GAEA Research Laboratory of the Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics conducted the 2nd Materials Chemistry for High School Teachers Seminar-Workshop last January 15, 2025. The topic for the workshop was Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDX). The seminar started with a 30-minute lecture on the concepts of the devices to be used. It was followed by a hands-on training and actual experimentation using the SEM-EDX at Rizal Hall.

There were three participants from different schools. They were from Paco Catholic School, University of Batangas, and Philippine Normal University. Started in 2024, this extension program aims to equip high school teachers with the knowledge in different Materials Chemistry characterization techniques that can help them and their students during the conduct of their research. The event was organized by Dr. Julius Andrew Nunez and Asst.Prof. Migel Antonio Catalig.
