BS and MS Applied Physics Students Win at SEACOMP 2026

BS and MS Applied Physics students of the Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics (DPSM) win oral scientific research presentation awards during the 24th Southeast Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP) and the 7th Philippine Conference on Medical Physics (PCMP) held from June 10–13, 2026, at the historic Manila Hotel.

There were three sessions for the oral presentations namely Emerging Technologies, Diagnostic Radiology, and Radiotherapy. The winners are the following:

  1. Emerging Technologies Winner: Renato III Fernan Bolo (Incoming 4th-year BS Applied Physics [Health Physics] student) Research Title: Topological structure of radiation-induced DNA damage encodes coupled LET–oxygen signatures
  2. Diagnostic Radiology Winner: Ralph Micko Dela Cruz (Alumnus, BS Applied Physics [Health Physics])
Research Title: Impact of Varied 3D OSEM Iterative Reconstruction Parameters on 99mTc-MAA SPECT/CT Quantification and Partition Model Dosimetry for Hepatocellular Carcinoma
  3. Radiotherapy Winner: Christine Loja (MS Applied Physics [Medical Physics] student)
Research Title: Development of an end-to-end testing protocol for image-guided brachytherapy (IGBT) for cervical cancer using a 3D-printed phantom

The prestigious event gathered leading medical physics experts, pioneering researchers, and brilliant students from across the Philippines and the globe. The congress was co-organized through the UP System Office of International Linkages under the Supported CU Hosting of International Conferences program, with Dr. John Paul Bustillo serving as the faculty proponent.
