LABMAT Conducts 3rd Materials Chemistry for High School Teachers Seminar

Thirteen (13) high school teachers from different institutions attended the 3rd Materials Chemistry for High School Teachers seminar and hands-on training last August 8, 2025 conducted by the Laboratory of Materials UP Manila (LABMAT).

The focus of the training was the use of the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR). The training was organized by LABMAT co-investigators, Dr. Julius Andrew Nunez and Dr. Joey Andrew Valinton. The participants were divided into two groups. They participated in the lecture to learn the theoretical concept of the device. It was then followed by a hands-on training.

The Materials Chemistry for High School Teachers seminar series aims to train high school teachers on the different aspects of materials characterization. This activity is free and is part of the extension service provided by the Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics and the College of Arts and Sciences.
