Five BS Biochemistry Students Complete Internships in Malaysia and Thailand Through UP OIL Funding

The Mobility for Vigor and Excellence – University of the Philippines (MOVE-UP) Financial Assistance Program of the UP Office of International Linkages (UP OIL) financed the international internships in Malaysia and Thailand of five BS Biochemistry students of the University of the Philippines Manila.

Three students were hosted by the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, Thailand. They were Hanna Ysabelle Nasol, Bryan Justine Dela Cruz, and Enrique Recio. On the other hand, two students finished their internship at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. They were Brylle Julius Palada and Matthew Ziene Tandoc. Their internships started last June 16, 2025 and ended last July 25, 2025.

The MOVE-UP program financed the students’ round-trip economy airfare with travel and medical insurance plus stipend. These international internships provided the students hands-on experience on the different equipment of their host laboratories. These also allowed the students to hone their communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. The continuous collaboration and linkage of the BS Biochemistry program of UP Manila with universities in the ASEAN region shows its commitment in improving the quality of its program.
