Geoffrey A. Solano is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the Mathematics and Computing Sciences Unit, Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics, UP Manila.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree from the Institute of Computer Science, UP Los Banos in 1996. His undergraduate thesis work was entitled “A Signature Recognizer using Artificial Neural Networks.” He worked as a programmer/analyst in the IT industry before pursuing his Master of Science in Computer Science degree at the Department of Computer Science, UP Diliman, which he obtained in 2005. His thesis entitled “Some Graph Properties of the Hamming and the Johnson Scheme” was awarded Most Outstanding Masteral Thesis in Computer Science/IT by PCASTRD-DOST. Immediately after earning his graduate degree, he joined the faculty roster of the Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics, UP Manila, handling courses for the BS Computer Science and the MS Health Informatics (Bioinformatics track).
He is currently pursuing his PhD in Computer Science degree at the Department of Computer Science, UP Diliman under the Algorithms and Complexity Laboratory. His research interests are graph theory, combinatorial networks, bioinformatics, intelligent systems and computational biology. He is also the convenor of Manila Studies Program and the head of the college IT Program.
