Prof. Gonzaga is currently a Full Professor of the Mathematical and Computing Sciences Unit, Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics. He previously served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and as Chairman of the Department of Physical Sciences and Mathematics.
He has two doctoral degrees, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Statistics from University of the Philippines Diliman and a Doctor of Engineering (Dr. Eng.) from Sophia University in Japan. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Statistics and Mathematics, Wirtschaftsuniversitat Wien in Vienna, Austria. He was also a Visiting Professor at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.
He received several International Publication Awards of the UP System and the Gawad Chancellor for Outstanding Researcher of UP Manila. He was recipient of scholarship and research grants from the Department of Science and Technology, the Japanese Ministry of Education and the Austrian Exchange Service. He is currently an Associate Editor of The Philippine Statistician.
He has been teaching mathematics, statistics and allied fields in the undergraduate and graduate levels in UP Manila since 1995. His research interests include statistical signal processing, wavelet analysis, long-memory processes, stochastic volatility, and bioinformatics.
